Your Happy Place
How do you get to your happy place? There is no Global Positioning System required to locate your happy place, although having a map does help. It is a place where you are free from the weight of stress and the pressures of living.
When was the last time you took an excursion to your happy place? This destination is different than the last time you planned an itinerary and took a passport photo. It may have been a very long time since you remember being in your happy place. It could be that those times are so few and far between you find yourself unable to reflect upon it. Let me see if I can refresh your recollection.
Stress is Everywhere
Studies have shown that conditions like: obesity, heart disease, Alzheimer’s disease, diabetes, depression, gastrointestinal problems and asthma are related to stress levels. If at least one of those ailments is connected with you, then you have a direct link to stress. Being aware of that connection and mitigating its impact on your life will give you a better quality of life.
There are far more areas where stress can impact your life including cognitive skills. Chronic stress and cortisol (also known as the “stress hormone”) can damage the brain. Unlike the scarecrow you have a brain, so the more time you spend in your happy place the less damage can occur in your brain.

Plenty of reasons to go to your happy place.
Admittance is Free
Admittance to your happy place is free of cost but not easy. It takes preplanning and practice runs. You need to keep your eyes open for your plans being sabotaged. Sometimes the plot to derail us comes from others however, it frequently is generated from within. Although you can recover if you find yourself off course.
Being in your happy place is more than having a laugh or being in a room full of people where you are the center of positive attention. It is more a settling of the mind that gives you an inner peace. You might experience this at the beach, watching a sunrise or some other activity that allows you to shutout everything that is chaos in your world. It is a place that nurtures you.
We were designed to be relational beings. In God’s image. He is a relational being. His word is filled with examples of how we, His creation, relate to Him and to each other. We have been commanded to Love; Him and our neighbor as we love ourselves. Your purpose and my purpose are directly linked to loving Him by honoring that commandment.
Being in a state of peace is part of our DNA. The price has already been paid for you to enter your happy place. That place is available for us to experience joy every day, whenever we choose to access it. Escape to your happy place.
Not Effortless
While you are not required to make a purchase to arrive at your happy place effort is required. There are ways to go to that place without getting into your vehicle or climbing to a mountain top. The excursion to your happy place begins in your mind.
A place where you can see beyond the situation and see that ultimately, no matter what the temporary situation, you are blessed, by and because of your relationship with God. No matter what it looks like in the moment, you know that you know, you are taken care of by the omnipotent, omnipresent, omniscient God whose very nature is defined by LOVE.
