Spring Cleaning

Spring_has_sprung MapsandLanterns.orgSpring cleaning your house may be a challenge, especially if things have gotten “out of control” since last spring. There are checklists to help you get organized as you clean your residence. I found a list that will help you to get the entire house organized in eight hours! I am going to use that list as a guide this week. Needless to say, if my house were totally in order, a plan for updating it during spring would not be required.

Take a look at the checklist, is there anything there that can help you to do your spring cleaning around your house? You may get validation from the list that you are quite efficient already or you may find ways to improve upon what you are already doing.

Your Checklist

How about your spiritual house? Do you have areas of your spiritual life that have not been touched in a long while? Have you allowed things to build up with the intention to do them some day? However, since some day is not on the calendar it never arrives?  Are you waiting for others to do their part and then you will be diligent about your part?

Do you figure that you and your spiritual condition are unique, so much so that when others are making routine adjustments you are somehow exempt? Do you maintain your spiritual dwelling as meticulously as your physical domicile or your own outward appearance?

We spend countless hours on the image we see in the mirror. We attempt to camouflage those flaws we want to remain hidden. We even stop looking at undesirable things that are there. On one occasion I remember standing in front of a full length mirror and noticed changes to my physique which must have happened overnight, without my consent! Indeed my ignorance of those parts failed to make them invisible.

When we desire to make changes to our spiritual self we get to go to the source. Through a personal relationship with our Creator we find His checklist. He reveals exactly what He wants us to do to improve our lives. We get to see how others have made similar changes in the Bible. We witness their spiritual transformations. When we read the true accounts of people like Saul who later became the Apostle Paul we come to understand God’s willingness to help us to change.

As we seek Him he rewards our efforts.

As we read about the sacrifice of His Only Begotten Son we are reminded of His stunning love, so dynamic that it provides us the path to redemption from this sinful life.

What does the Bible say about the importance of our spiritual lives? Do you know? How can you tell if your spiritual house is in order?

Spring Cleaning

Is it a good idea to keep our homes in such good condition year round so that seasonal evaluations allow us to arrive at an even better level of life?  We deserve to live in an uplifting, clean, clutter free environment. We are able to think and function better when we can focus our energy on learning to reach new levels. Like when the confinement of winter gives habitation to the newness of life that returns in the spring.

Our spiritual health is far more significant to our livelihood. The condition of our spirit will outlast both our temporary homes here on earth. The manmade edifice and the flesh and blood earth suits created by God to hold our spirits. Our spirits will take us into eternity. What does your eternity look like? What plans have you made? Are you on course?

What season are we currently in? Is it time for spring cleaning?

We have made it through yet another grueling winter. Perhaps this is the season where we are to make our calling and election sure.

What if God has been showing us, through His word, that spring is a time for renewal? For everything there is a season. What if it is time for each of us to examine our physical and spiritual homes and make changes? What if He has brought us through the harshness of winter, and its trials to appreciate the warmth of spring and a chance to sow new seeds?

It is spring…time for spring cleaning! READ the Bible, get out your checklist!
